The president of Mozambique has announced the new airport planned for the Gaza province, just outside the capital, Xai-Xai. The runway will be 1600 metres long and the entire airport will cost about 3 billion Meticals.

Mozambican president Filipe Nyusi said, “The company that wins the tender will build the airport this year.”

This welcome development will also mean a boom for tourism and the local economy in Xai-Xai and Bilene, as well as the rest of the Gaza province.
