According to the provincial director of Culture and Tourism, Bilene and the other regions in the Gaza Province in southern Mozambique raked in 250million meticais over the festive season. “We have every reason to believe that the next festive season will be even busier,” said Maria Mapsanganhe in a press release from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The new figure well exceeds the reported figure in 2016, which totalled 190 million meticais (EUR 2.6 million). According to Miss Mapsanganhe, 95% of the province’s hotels and guest lodges were fully occupied during the holiday period.

Gaza’s tourism potential is very promising and alongside Inhambane, is the main tourist destination in southern Mozambique.
