The Mozambican charity Livro Aberto or “Open Book” was founded in 2007 with a focus on filling the gaps in literacy education and resource access, for children in Mozambique. Active within multiple communities in Maputo Province and in partnership with both the Peace Corps and USAID; throughout Mozambique, Livro Aberto reaches hundreds of children weekly with community and mobile library activities and literacy workshops.
In order to raise funds, the charity organised an 80’s music quiz evening in Maputo on Friday 10th July, which attracted the support of Maputo’s expatriate and diplomatic communities. As part of its social responsibility commitment towards assisting where it can in improving the lives of less fortunate Mozambicans, San Martinho Beach Club™ donated an accommodation voucher to serve as a “bid for” prize for a lucky winner. The evening raised 57 000 Meticais for the charity.
